KATHMANDU: A team, including the Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa has successfully climbed Mt Everest on Tuesday morning.
The mountaineering team reached atop Mt. Everest between 5:30 to 6:45 am, according to the Nepali time, becoming the first international team to conquer the highest peak (8848.86m) of the world.
The expedition team, also called the Royal guard of Bahrain, had arrived in Nepal on March 15 to scale Mt. Everest.
The team includes 13 Bahrainis and three British citizens, according to the Embassy of Nepal in Bahrain.
Earlier, the team including Prince Khalifa had scaled the 8,163-meter-high peak Mt Manaslu at 6:10 am on October 15, 2020.
Likewise, the team also climbed the 6,119-meter-high Mt Lobuche at 8:50 on October 3, 2020, in the second ascent of the season.
The team is serving in the Bahrain Defense Force, according to the Nepali Embassy in Bahrain.
The Nepal-based Seven Summit Trek Company had made necessary arrangements for them to climb Mt. Everest.
