Speaker Sapkota writes to President saying PM failed the floor test



KATHMANDU: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has written a letter to President Bidya Devi Bhandari informing her that Prime Minister KP Oli failed the floor test in the House of Representatives on Monday.

He sent the letter as soon as the HoR meeting concluded on Monday evening.

Prime Minister Oli could receive only 93 votes while 124 lawmakers voted against the government. Likewise, 15 lawmakers decided to remain neutral.

Meanwhile, as many as 28 lawmakers of the Nepal-Khanal faction of CPN-UML abstained from the meeting.

Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and the Janata Samajwadi Party, meanwhile, urged President Bhandari to invite parties to form majority government as per Article 76(2) of the Constitution.
