KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel and UML deputy parliamentary party (PP) leader Subash Nembang have left Singha Durbar after holding talks with senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal Sunday afternoon.
After the meeting, Nembang talking to the media said the two sides clearly communicated each others’ concerns and are likely to hold another round of talk as well. When asked when would talks be held again, Nembang said, “It could be in the evening or even Monday morning.” Nembang was of the view that it could happen anytime.
Nembang and Poudel are to convey a summary of the discussions to Prime Minister KP Oli upon their return to Baluwatar. PM Oli deputed the two leaders to talk to the disgruntled faction of the UML to convince them to postpone their mass resignations.
Leaders of the Nepal faction have already submitted their resignations to senior leader Nepal before parliament’s session Monday where PM Oli will take a vote of confidence. They have yet to formally resign and inform the Parliament Secretariat.
Nembang also said the two sides were on the same page regarding maintaining unity in the party.
The Nepal faction is adamant to restore the status of party committees to May 16, 2018.
Meanwhile, internal discussion among Nepal faction leaders is underway after leader Nepal met with Poudel and Nembang.
