PM summons Constitutional Council meeting on Sunday



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Chairman of the Constitutional Council (CC) KP Oli has convened a meeting of the Constitutional Council on Sunday.

After issuing a controversial ordinance for the second time, PM Oli, on Friday, has called the CC meeting for Sunday.

Earlier, PM Oli had introduced a controversial ordinance relating to the formation of CC and had appointed various officials in the constitutional bodies as per the provisions introduced through the ordinance.

The ordinances introduced before have not gone through the mandatory ratification from the parliament.

However, the government has introduced eight more ordinances so as to validate previous ordinances.

Among the constitutional bodies, the Public Service Commission is completely vacant while the Inclusive Commission and the Election Commission also have many vacancies.

The Prime Minister’s Office has informed the Speaker of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina in writing for the meeting while the Speaker Agni Sapkota had not been informed about it till Friday afternoon.
