KATHMANDU: Ganga Maya Adhikari has broken her fast onto death on 137th day citing the legal authority supposed to give justice has been shut during prohibitory orders.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, Adhikari had informed that she had suspended her protest for the time being as the authority supposed to offer justice has been affected by the prohibitory orders issued to curb COVID-19.

“I have decided to suspend my fast on this date as all state machinery is working to save the  life of people from the coronavirus pandemic,” she stated, adding, “Despite the breach of the fast, the movement for justice for all conflict victims will continue till it bears a substantive conclusion.”

Adhikari has also thanked everyone for their cooperation, goodwill and support in the fight for justice.

His son Krishna Prasad Adhikari was killed during the armed conflict.

Claiming that her son was killed for non-political reasons, she had started her fast onto death on December 21 seeking justice.
