One arrested on charge of poaching wildlife, three guns seized



SOLUKHUMBU: Police have arrested a man on charges of being involved in poaching of wild animals.

Police have arrested a man with three loaded firearms and other items after hearing the sound of a gun being fired at a community forest in Sotang village of Solukhumbu district.

The arrested is Ganga Bahadur Giri alias Dil Bahadur, 34, from Sotang rural municipaltiy, ward no. 1.

Likewise, police have seized three loaded guns approximately 800 grams of ammunition used in the loaded gun, 1 kg of iron, 1 battery used in a flashlight, 1 lighter, 7 matches, 5 wallets, 1 cape station, mobile phone station.

According to Kavit Katawal, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, 4 and 10 meters of electric wire were also recovered. Giri, who was fleeing after seeing the police, was arrested but the search for other fugitives is underway, he said.
