‘North Korea test fires short-range projectiles’

WASHINGTON: North Korea test fired several short-range projectiles Saturday morning from the country’s eastern coast,  South Korean officials said.

The projectiles flew 70 to 200 kilometers before crashing into the sea, officials said, adding that both South Korean and US authorities are analyzing the test firing.

Meanwhile, the military has intensified surveillance to prepare for North Korea’s additional launches. South Korea’s Defense Ministry in an earlier statement said a “missile” had been fired.

The test fire has come a few weeks after North Korea said it conducted a tactical guided weapons firing test, according to state media.
