MTPD expands service for paying traffic penalty online



KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has expanded the convenience for traffic rule violators to make online payment of penalty.

MTPD signed an agreement with Fonepay Pvt Ltd (Fonepay) and Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL) on Friday to enable rule violators to make the penalty directly from their bank accounts.

Earlier, traffic rule violators were able to pay the penalty through e-Sewa and connect IPS. Now, the facility has been expanded to include 45 banks and financial institutions and 7 online payment service providers.

MTPD Chief SSP Janak Bhattarai, Diwas Kumar Sapkota of Fonepay and Munni Rajbhandari of NCHL signed the agreement today.

According to MTPD, they have developed a system that coordinates with Traffic Violation Record System (TVRS), government’s Revenue Management Information System (RMIS) and service providers to enable rule violators to pay traffic fines online.
