Take the initiative to form new govt: Prachanda urges Deuba

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda has urged Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to form a new government under his leadership.

Prachanda who is under moral pressure to withdraw his support to the Oli-led government met with President Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday to discuss a new power-sharing.

According to an NC source, Prachanda during the meeting asked Deuba to take the initiative to form the new government with the support from Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Maoist Center.

“Take the initiative to form a new government,” the NC leader quoted Prachanda as saying, adding, “The Oli-led government is detrimental to the democracy and the constitution.  The next government should be formed by NC, Maoist Center and JSP.”

There is also a unanimous voice in the NC that the government should be formed under the leadership of Deuba.

Responding to Prachanda’s proposal, Deuba said it would be immature to register a no confidence motion against the majority government, urging Prachanda to withdraw his support to the Oli-led government, according to the NC source.
