Mukesh honored with ‘Banepa Tara’ award



BANEPA: People’s movement 2006 injured Mukesh Kayastha of Banepa has been honored with the ‘Banepa tara’ medal at a function organized to mark the 40th founding day of Banepa Municipality.

At a function held here on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Iswar Pokharel presented the medal and cash prize of Rs. 10,000.

Following the felicitation, DPM Pokharel inquired about Mukesh’s health condition and other states of affairs. Mukesh is bed-ridden since sustaining bullet injuries during the 2006 people’s movement.

Also at the program, the founder of the municipality, Dr Surendra Bahadur Bade Shrestha was honored with the ‘Banepa Bhaskar’ award while Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Jung Shah and chief administrative officer of the municipality Kabiraj Upreti were honored with ‘Banepa service medal’.

Both were recognized for their notable contribution to the municipality and its people.

On the occasion, the municipality staffers completing 25 years of service and senior citizens of the municipality were honored.
