Government decides to lift ban on Biplav-led group



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to lift the ban on the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led Communist Party of Nepal.

A cabinet meeting held on Thursday also approved the three-point agreement reached between the government negotiating team and the Biplav group on Thursday morning.

“We have decided to lift the ban as the group has expressed the commitment to renounce violence and return to peaceful politics,” a minister said.

The government and the Biplav group are formally signing an agreement on Friday that would pave the way for the latter to join mainstream politics.

Prime Minister KP Oli and Biplav are sharing the same stage to address a program in Kathmandu on Friday.

The government and the group on Thursday reached a three-point agreement.
