Japan Embassy hands over school building in Gulmi

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Japan handed over a school building for specialized courses in agriculture to Shree Nepal Rastriya Tribhuvan Secondary School in Gulmi.

The school was constructed under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Scheme of the Government of Japan, a statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Nepal, said.

Approximately 90% of the population in Gulmi District is engaged in agriculture, but the lower productivity has caused the younger generation seeking employment abroad, it said.

To address this situation, the School planned curricula of specialized courses in agriculture, offering full-time courses for students of Grades 9 and 10, according to the statement.

The courses include animal husbandry, sericulture, farm land management, and agricultural processing. The school aims to increase the interest the younger generation in agriculture.

The Embassy expects the project will contribute to improving the lives of local farmers and also promote the country’s rich agricultural resources, the statement said.
