Special worship at Pashupatinath to resume from March 9



KATHMANDU: The special worship offered at Pashupatinath Temple, closed for the past one-year due to coronavirus pandemic, would be resumed from March 9.

Treasurer at the Pashupati Area Development Trust, Dr Milan Kumar Thapa, told RSS that the special worship is to be resumed from March 9 on the occasion of Phagun Krisha Ekadashi by fulfilling all health precautions as there is still risk of coronavirus.

The special worship only from Rs 1,100 up to Rs 27,000 would be performed at Pashupatinath Temple. Earlier, special worship from Rs 1,100 up to Rs 25,000 used to be performed at Pashupatinath Temple.

The PADT is resuming the special worship on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. Preparation has been made to perform two types of special worship—one of Rs 5,100 and another of Rs 11,000 on March 11 on the occasion of Shivaratri, he added.

An arrangement would be made to allow entering two devotees for performing special worship of Rs 5,100 and four devotees for Rs 11,000 in the temple on the day of Shivaratri. The PADT makes income up to Rs 100 million annually from special worship.

The PADT had made income of Rs 94.093 million income from special worship in the fiscal year 2018/19.

Though the special worship was stopped from third week of March 2020, the PADT had made income of Rs 60.18 million, shared Thapa. RSS
