Prachanda-Nepal faction instructs NCP lawmakers not to leave Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Prachanda-Nepal faction’s chairmen Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal have instructed party lawmakers not to leave Kathmandu Valley for the time being.

Addressing the NCP Parliamentary Party’s meeting in Singh Durbar Kathmandu on Wednesday, Chairmen Prachanda and Nepal instructed all party lawmakers to remain in regular contact with the party.

“The political scenario might change at any time. Therefore, except for emergencies, lawmakers should not leave the Valley,” one of the lawmakers quoted Prachanda as saying during the parliamentary party’s meeting on Wednesday.

A leader source claimed that 80 lawmakers of NCP attended the meeting and several others could not join it as they have been outside the Valley.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Standing Committee meeting of the faction decided to forge a consensus with the main opposition party Nepal Congress (NC) and other parties to ensure political stability in the country.

The meeting held at the party office in Peris Danda also decided to cancel all protest programs against the government.
