NC demands to intensify probe into Bhagarathi murder case

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded to intensify the investigation into the rape and murder of Bhagarathi Bhatt, a teenager from Baitadi in western Nepal.

Issuing a statement on Friday, NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma demanded Prime Minister KP Oli to expedite the investigation and arrest the culprits immediately.

“The party has demanded the Prime Minister to make the presence of the state effective against all such incidents across the country along with the Baitadi incident,” reads the statement.

Meanwhile, the party has assigned a leader to study the rape and murder and submit a report.

Bhatta’s dead body was recovered on February 4 in the Loblekh jungle near her home. When the police recovered the dead body, there were bruises and wounds with bleeding from her vagina and strangulated neck.

Police said that the suspects are being interrogated to confirm their involvement in the crime.
