Government will neither interfere nor instruct CIAA in its work: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has asserted that the government would not interfere in the functioning of the Commission of the Investigation for Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

“Be assured, the government will neither interfere in the work of the CIAA nor will it instruct it,” PM Oli said while addressing a program on the occasion of CIAA’s 30th year of establishment.

He also dismissed reports that the CIAA has been a mere stalker of the government saying, “There is an illusion that CIAA is a mere shadow of the government, which is not true.”

The government, PM Oli claimed, is committed to controlling corruption in the country. “Corruption is a common enemy,” he said urging one and all to work collectively towards ending this ‘disease’.

Urging all concerned to work towards “identifying” Nepal as a corruption-free country, he said, “Let us understand that not all bureaucrats or politicians are corrupt. However, the corrupt ones will not be spared at any cost.”

He also urged the media to disseminate information without bias and prejudice to make sure that no corrupt will walk free.
