KATHMANDU: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav held a courtesy meeting with United States Chargé d’Affaires to Nepal Scott Urbom on Thursday.
According to the Office of the Vice President, the meeting held at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur focused on various dimensions of bilateral relations between Nepal and the United States.
During the meeting, Vice President Yadav said Nepal–US relations have remained close, cordial and cooperative since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1947, based on mutual respect, understanding, development cooperation and strong people-to-people relations.
He stated that Nepal has consistently attached high importance to its relationship with the United States while respecting shared values of democracy, human rights and freedom.
Yadav also expressed appreciation for the support the United States has provided for Nepal’s socio-economic development over the decades.
The Vice President expressed confidence that the upcoming 80th anniversary of Nepal–US diplomatic relations next year would serve as an important milestone reflecting the long-standing friendship and partnership between the two countries.
He further expressed hope that the United States would continue extending support and cooperation for Nepal’s development in the years ahead.
Vice President Yadav also conveyed congratulations and best wishes to the government and people of the United States on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence.
On the occasion, Chargé d’Affaires Urbom said Nepal–US relations are long-standing, historic and multidimensional and noted that the United States is interested in taking the relationship to a higher level.
He reaffirmed continued US support for Nepal and expressed satisfaction that American-supported projects currently operating in Nepal are progressing smoothly and effectively.
