Minister Poudel directs to resolve insurance issues



KATHMANDU: Minister for Finance Bishnu Poudel has instructed the new leadership of the Beema Samiti to make their tenure a ‘milestone’ for the insurance sector of the country.

Addressing a ceremony at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected chairperson of the Beema Samiti, Minister Poudel directed the new leadership in the insurance regulatory body of Nepal to work towards addressing the issues pertaining to the insurance sector.

Poudel pledged for the cooperation, facilitation, and coordination to the Beema Samiti to help address the issues surrounding the insurance sector.

On the occasion, Secretary at the MoF Sishir Kumar Dhungana spoke of the need to keep up with the credibility of the insurance sector and to make it strong, capable, and competitive.

Secretary (Revenue) Ramsharan Pudasaini underscored ensuring good-governance in the insurance sector and increasing the insurance’s access to as many as people.

The newly-elected Chairperson of the Beema Samiti Surya Prasad Silwal reaffirmed his commitment to work for the reform of the insurance sector. He viewed that the current issues should be addressed and other issues are addressed at the policy-level.

Secretary (Finance) Sishir Kumar Dhungana had administered the oath of the office and secrecy to newly appointed Chairperson Silwal.

On the occasion, Minister Poudel and secretaries congratulated Silwal and extended best wishes for a successful tenure in the Beema Samiti.
