Statues of martyrs stolen



MAHOTTARI: Statues of two martyrs set up at Parikauli chowk along Jaleshwor-Janakpur road in Mahottari district were stolen on Wednesday night, said the police.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Bista confirmed the stealing of statues of Birendra Bichha of Jaleshwor Municipality-11 and Rajesh Thakur of the municipality-9 who were shot dead in the Madhes movement, 2062/63. The stolen statues were around seven feet in height.

A group of drunkard people, who passed through the incident area on that night, might have stolen the statues, ward chair of the municipality-9 Rabindra Yadav quoted the local people as saying.

A police team from the District Police Office has been mobilized for the search of the stolen statues and  thiefs, said Superintendent of Police Tika Bahadur KC. RSS
