COVID-19 jabs to be given to 17 thousand 396 persons in Gandaki Province



POKHARA: ‘Covishield’, the vaccine against COVID-19, has arrived here. The vaccines meant for the Province arrived here on Sunday.

India had provided one million doses of vaccines to Nepal under the grant assistance.

The vaccines would be administered in the first phase to 17 thousand 396 persons, including health workers, security personnel and sanitation workers, who worked in the frontline in the prevention and control of coronavirus pandemic.

The vaccines would be supplied to the other districts of the Province today and the vaccination would be started from there as well, Director at the Gandaki Province Health Directorate Pokhara, Dr Binod Bindu Sharma, said.

It is said 40 thousand doses of the vaccines have been supplied to Gandaki Province for now.

The vaccines brought to Pokhara have been stored at the cold store of the local Health Supplies Management Center.

The vaccination would be done at the government hospitals based in the district under the direct supervision of the doctors.

The government plans to vaccinate the members of the public in the second phase.
