Number of COVID-19 infected persons nil in three districts of Karnali



MUGU: The number of coronavirus infected persons is nil in three districts of Karnali province. There is no COVID-19 case in Kalikot, Rukum Paschim and Mugu districts, the province government’s ministry of social development said.

These three districts have become free of coronavirus infection after all the infected persons in these districts have been discharged following their recovery.

Before this, Rukum Pachim had 255 cases, Kalikot had 328 cases and Mugu had 41 cases of coronavirus infection.
According to the latest data shared by the Ministry of Social Development, there are 170 active cases in the province at present, including 97 cases in Surkhet district, two in Dailekh, 14 in Jajarkot, 31 cases in Salyan, six in Jumla, 11 cases in Humla and nine cases in Dolpa.

Health Education Officer at the Ministry, Nawaraj Kandel said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the province has reached 7,357 so far.

Ninety-six thousand 102 people had been tested for coronavirus infection through the RDT and PCR method and among them 7,357 tested positive to the virus. PCR tests are carried out at the pathology laboratory at Karnali Province Hospital, Livestock Diseases Research Centre Surkhet, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, the District Hospital Dailekh and the Chaurajahari Community Hospital Rukum Paschim.

Twenty-six people have died of COVID-19 in Karnali province so far. The highest number of COVID-19 fatalities is in Surkhet.

Thirteen people have succumbed to the flu-like pandemic in this district followed by six in Dailekh and one each in Dolpa, Kalikot and Rukum Paschim. RSS
