NC objects to arrest of ex-policeman Chand, calls to stop ‘misuse’ of Electronic Transaction Act

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has objected to the arrest of former policeman Dilli Bahadur Chand, who is also a cadre of the party.

In a statement on Thursday NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma demanded the immediate release of Chand by stopping the misuse of the Electronic Transaction Act.

“Going against that legal process and making arrests is an example of abuse of power by the Electronic Commerce Act and even the police,” reads the statement.

Chand is working as a security guard at a local private office in Nepalgunj.

Police arrested Chand on the charge of making negative comments against Mahesh Basnet, a leader of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Oli faction.
