Traffic police fine 1,592 vehicles, collect over Rs 2 million in revenue



KATHMANDU: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley took action against 1,592 vehicles for violating traffic rules over the past 24 hours, collecting Rs 2.024 million in fines.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive generated Rs 2,024,561 in revenue from various traffic violations.

Office spokesperson Naresh Raj Subedi said action was taken against 73 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol, 87 for operating ride-sharing services in violation of regulations, 74 for running red lights, 78 for overspeeding, and 47 for failing to follow lane discipline.

Police also fined 87 drivers for using illegally tinted windows, 56 for sounding horns in no-horn zones, and 32 for driving the wrong way on one-way roads. Another 1,058 motorists were penalized for various other traffic offences.

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office said it has intensified enforcement against traffic rule violations in recent weeks as part of efforts to improve road safety and traffic discipline across the Valley.
