Distribution of landownership certificates in Kawasoti after four months

KAWASOTI: The Landless Squatters’ Problems Resolution Commission was at work to begin the distribution of landownership certificates to the landless squatters in the first phase after four months, said the Commission.

In the first phase, the Commission would distribute the documents to the landless squatters at 14 local levels in Nawalparasi district for which an agreement was struck.

The Commission Chairperson Devi Prasad Gyawali confirmed the information at an inaugural program of the details and data collection unit of landless squatters, Dalits and unmanaged settlements at Kawasoti of Nawalpur in Nawalparasi district (Bardaghat Susta East) on Saturday. Data collection would complete by three months, he said.

Work of the Commission would not get impacted with the latest political situation, he, however, said. Kawasoti Municipality was committed to contributing to the completion of distribution of landownership certificates, said the Municipality Mayor Chandra Kumari Pun.

“We are at the mission of making landless squatters’ owner of lands. The documents will be distributed soon in coordination with the Commission,” she said.

The municipality on December 23 had issued a notice asking landless squatters, Dalits and unmanaged settlements to file applications for the registration within January 26, 2021, said Paban Rupakheti, chief of the data collection unit.
