NA instructs division heads to stay on high alert



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) headquarters on Sunday held a meeting with all division heads intuiting possible anti-government protests and violence following the dissolution of the House of Representatives by the government.

Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Purna Chandra Thapa held a virtual meeting with the heads of the divisions to discuss the issue.

According to NA source, CoAS Thapa held the meeting focusing on the latest political development.

He also instructed all divisions to stay alert in the country’s major cities.

Likewise, the source said that the Nepal Army will keep an eye as the Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force will be working to avert any possible violence.

According to the source, the Nepal Army will work with the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force to control violence as per the Constitution of Nepal.

Talking to Khabarhub on condition of anonymity, a senior army official said, “Nepal Army wants resolution of all political issues. NA abides by the instruction of a legitimate government. Moreover, we do not want any violence in the country in any pretext.”

It should be noted that President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the House of Representatives on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Oli.
