JHAPA: An elderly woman was raped and strangled to death at Mechinagar Municipality-13 in Jhapa district.
Bishal Birja, 35, of Bhadrapur Municipality-4 confessed to the police that he on Wednesday night lured and raped the woman identified as Maina Hasda, 70, of Arjundhara Municipality-11 before strangling her to death.
Birja now is under police arrest. Birja himself informed the police that there was the body of the woman under a culvert before the Pathivara Temple at Charaali, said Rakesh Thapa, information officer at the District Police Office.
Upon suspicion, the police launched investigations into the incident and arrested Birja. Additional investigations were underway. RSS
