KMC Mayor Shakya admits of failing to meet people’s expectations



KATHMANDU: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Bidya Sundar Shakya has confessed that he could not meet the public expectations despite his commitment in the election.

Speaker to media persons in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Mayor Shakya admitted that he was unable to meet the people’s expectation. However, he blamed the concerned authority for the poor performance of the metropolis.

“There are separate authorities that allow, regulate and even collect revenue for drinking water, sewerage, roads, electricity, internet cable; sadly, none of them work in coordination,” Mayor Shakya pointed out the problem and added, “The designated authority does not work and the blame goes to the Mayor and the Metropolis.”

He confessed that despite working hard to materialize the dreams shared to the public in the election time, many of them are not manifested for various reasons.

However, he claimed that he has not given up and many works are under construction.

Mayor Shakya told that the KMC is currently working on various projects related tot he preservation of the cultural heritage and renovation of them.

He cited the newly renovated Shikhar-style Bal Gopaleshwor Temple in the middle of Rani Pokhari and renovation of Kashthamandap in its ancient form and art as the result of the sincere efforts in renovation from the Metropolitan City’s part.
