Kepilasgadhi in Khotang to promote tourism through Mundhum Trail

KHOTANG: The Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality in the district is gearing up to promote tourism by means of the Mundhum Trail.

The rural municipality has devised a plan to use the Trail conceptualized by the government for promoting the tourism in the four hilly districts in the eastern region of the country, namely Khotang, Bhojpur, Solukhumbu and Sankhuwasabha.

In this connection, the rural municipality has prepared a plan for construction of an approach trail linking the Mundhum Trail from Chakhewa to Salpapokhari through Maiyungdanda, Satdobato, Bagare Bhanjyang, Jugedanda, Lauredanda and Nikas.

The rural municipality is constructing the approach road in collaboration with G-Foundation.

The plan also includes upgrading the Mundhum Trail, construction of homestay nearby the Mundhum Trail and other facilities.

Rural municipality chairman Krishna Kumar Rai said infrastructure development works have been started especially along the Mundhum Trail for linking Salpapokhari, the religious and tourism destination that adjoins the Khotang, Bhojpur, Solukhumbu and Sankhuwasabha districts.

Nearly 48 kilometres of the Mundhum Trail lies within the Kepilasgadhi rural municipality. The Mundhum Trail is one among the 100 tourism products identified by the federal government.

The rural municipality has allocated Rs 800 thousand and the G-Foundation the same amount in this fiscal year for the development of infrastructures along the Trail lying within its area, Rai added.
