KATHMANDU: The government today said the report made public by the Transparency International’s (TI) Asia Report-2020 was unacceptable.
The government said that the report has been motivated by political bias and is based on groundless facts.
The TI Asia Report-2020 has said Nepal’s Prime Minister “defended” his colleagues who have been accused of corruption.
However, the government has disagreed with the report and said it was unacceptable.
Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications Parbat Gurung said the report was prepared by asking people who are against the government, do not want progress of the government and are involved in anti- government activities.
The report, he reiterated was baseless and without facts adding that the information was obtained by telephone from around 1,000 respondents only.
It is more like a propaganda material prepared against the Government of Nepal.
“They are trying to discredit the government,” he said.
Minister Gurung said that the government will disagree with the report as it has come without any investigation and verification.
“The government will reject such controversial report,” he said.
Likewise, the government has also postponed the election of the official trade union of civil servants indefinitely.
Announcing the decision of the Cabinet, Minister Gurung said the government has decided to postpone the election of the official trade union.
He, however, said the government will announce another date.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Prime Minister’s residence last week had made the decision to this effect.
Earlier, the election of the civil servants union was scheduled for December 12.
The election is postponed time and again because of the Covid-19 menace.
