Dr Mahat dismisses reports of power sharing



KATHMANDU: Joint General Secretary of Nepali Congress (NC), Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, has dismissed reports of power sharing saying that the meeting between Prime Minister KP Oli and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba was not held over the issue.

NC leader Dr Mahat said that his party was not in favor of power sharing adding that there was no necessity of it in current circumstance.

It may be noted that PM Oli and Deuba had met for around three hours at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday.

PM Oli had invited Deuba to discuss appointments in constitutional bodies and universities.

However, sources had then claimed that PM Oli and Deuba discussed the ongoing dispute in the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and NC’s readiness to join the government if NCP were to split.

On a different note, he also stated that the government has failed to provide health services to people even though the cases of coronavirus infection are increasing.

“This has also led to a decline in the number of PCR tests,” he said.
