Rasuwa customs office collects Rs 1 billion in revenue in four months

RASUWA: Rasuwa custom office, Timure has collected one billion rupees in revenue from the import of goods through the country’s northern transit, Rasuwagadhi in the past four months in the current fiscal year, 2020/21.

The supply of goods through the transit with China has increased after the transit resumed five months ago following a halt due to 2015 earthquake and COVID-19 pandemic, thus contributing revenue collection, said chief customs officer Punya Bikram Khadka.

At present, Chinese businesspersons have brought five containers with goods at Miteri bridge at the border on a daily basis, said the customs’ office.

Workers and drivers numbering 50 have been managed to load goods in containers and to transport them from Rasuwagadhi to the customs office premises at Timure, said Khadka.

Local people have accused Chinese customs representatives of charging high transport fees on the supply of goods from Kerung to Rasuwagadhi. The Nepali concerned authorities have been asked to resolve the matter, said local resident Sonam Wangdi Tamang.
