NC women central members demand one-third representation

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) women central members have demanded one-third representation of women in the office-bearers of the Nepali Congress party.

Speaking at a virtual interaction on ‘14th general convention of the Nepali Congress and women leadership’ organized by Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation, women central members demanded one-third representation of women in all eight structures of the party from ward to central level.

NC central member Sujata Koirala said the party should ensure one-third representation of women from local level to central office-bearers so as to establish the rights and welfare of women.

“Women are the agent of every changes of the country so the party should lay special emphasis on women’s representation”, Koirala said.

NC central member and former minister Kamala Pant said the party should provide active memberships to at least one-third women.

Likewise, NC central member and lawmaker Dr Dila Sangraula also demanded bringing women leadership in the office-bearers of the party in upcoming general convention.

On the occasion, women leaders also condemned the incidents of violence, rape and murder of women taking place in serial manner.

They also said that the government’s act of breaching constitution based on majority, ignorance of federal democratic republic and interference on the constitutional bodies would in no way be agreeable.
