General Naravane visits Basantpur Durbar Square (with video)



KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Mukund Naravane visited Basantapur Durbar Square on Wednesday.

During the tour, the Indian CoAS observed the Kumari Ghar and other temples and structures of archeological importance in the area, according to Nepal Army spokesperson Santosh Ballav Poudel.

Also, this evening, the Indian CoAS visited the Pashupati temple premises and paid obeisance to Lord Pashupatinath from across the Bagmati river, as the temple remains closed due to COVID-19. He also performed arati at the Bagmati river bank.

General Naravane was accorded a warm welcome in Kathmandu upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) today at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart General Purna Chandra Thapa.

Naravane is staying at Soaltee Hotel.

General Naravane will be conferred with the honorary title of Nepal Army chief – a historic tradition of displaying a unique closeness between Nepal and India.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will confer the title of honorary chief of the Nepal Army (NA) on him – a historic tradition of displaying special bonding between the two nations.
