KATHMANDU: Hearing for ambassadors-designate Yuba Raj Khatiwada and Lok Darshan Regmi has been scheduled for November 12.

Khatiwada and Regmi have been recommended as the ambassadors for the United States of America and and Great Britain, respectively.

A total of four complaints have been lodged against Khatiwada and Regmi after the Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) invited complaints.

Chairman of the PHC Laxman Lal Karna has now scheduled the hearing for November 12.

The Cabinet meeting on October 1 had picked former Finance Minister Khatiwada as envoy to America and Regmi, who resigned from chief secretary on the same day, to Great Britain.

Prime Minister Oli had asked Regmi to resign before his term was to end and the latter put appointment as envoy to Britain as a condition for that, according to sources.

Khatiwada was recently appointed as an advisor to the Prime Minister with perks and benefits on a par with that of a minister’s.

Khatiwada, who also filled in as the government spokesperson and communication and information technology minister after Gokul Baskota resigned over the audio tape scam, had tendered his resignation as finance minister on September 4.
