NCP Gen Secy Paudel intensifies meetings as NCP heads towards split

KATHMANDU:  General Secretary of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Bishnu Paudel has intensified meetings with the party leaders after Dahal-led faction teamed up against Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli at Khumaltar.

According to Baluwatar sources, Prime Minister Oli did not call Paudel in a meeting with his advisory team but called him later in the meeting with the other leaders.

Paudel’s messages on social networking sites regarding PM Oli’s briefing in which the premier accused Dahal of trying to split the party had triggered ripples in political spectrum in the country.

In the message, Paudel called for all the party rank and file  to stand united saying that  intra-party dispute in the NCP has resurfaced.

“The NCP has reached a critical juncture. I would like to call upon all the party rank and file to contribute for party unification resolving internal differences in a mutual understanding,” Paudel tweeted.

According to sources, Paudel had gone to Khumaltar to meet another chairman Dahal on Sunday evening. He had held a meeting with Dahal for a long time.

However, it is not clear whether Paudel went to Khumaltar on his own or at the behest of Oli.
