SC to curtail services until Chhath, hearing on Bamdev case to be further delayed

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is preparing not to resume regular hearings before Chhath considering the risk of the coronavirus.

It is said that the curtailing of the service will be continued even if the courts across the country, including the Supreme Court, are open from Sunday.

On Sunday, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana and Chief Registrar Nripadhwaj Niraula had a discussion with officials of the Nepal Bar Association. During the discussion, the Bar officials have supported the proposal of the Supreme Court to continue to curtailing services till Chhath.

This decision will affect the hearing on the writ petition against the decision to nominate Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam as a member of the National Assembly.
