Barpak rises from the rubble, 85 percent houses reconstructed

GORKHA: Reconstruction of private houses in Barpark, the epicenter of the powerful 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, has been completed by 85 percent. All houses here were damaged by the earthquake, reports Kantipur Daily.

Out of 1,339 beneficiaries, 1,219 in Barpak have reconstructed their houses.

The Dharche Rural Municipality has written to those who have failed to sign a grant agreement and reconstruct houses.

“We have launched a door-to-door campaign,” said Rural Municipality Chairman Bishu Bhatta, ‘We have asked representatives and technicians to find out why some beneficiaries are yet to reconstruct their houses.”

Out of 7,181 beneficiaries in the Rural Municipality, 6,148 have reconstructed their houses, the report stated.
