PM hoists national flag at Jitgadhi fort

BUTWAL: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday hoisted the national flag to commemorate the victory of the then Nepali Army over British troops in Jitgadhi fort in Butwal around 200 years ago, amid a program here.

He also unveiled the life-size statue of Ujir Singh Thapa, commander of the then Nepali Army, who fought and won the battle.

On the occasion, the PM said the government was focusing on maintaining peace, security and good governance – main ingredients for the country’s development.
