PM Oli lacks constitutional literacy: Advocate Tripathi

KATHMANDU: Senior Advocate Dinesh Tripathi has said Prime Minister KP Oli is treating the province as a unit of the central government accusing him of having no even constitutional literacy.

The Constitution of Nepal has envisaged the three-tier government – local, provincial and the central – with their clearly defined roles and responsibilities.

“Their roles and  responsibilities have been clearly defined in the Constitution itself,” said Tripathi, arguing, “They are guided by the Constitution, not by the central government.”

He alleged that Prime Minister Oli’s expressions are  against the letter and spirit of the Consitution.

He further said that the success of the  federalism depends on the empowerd provinces and local governments with the effective federal government.
