POKHARA: Canyoning in Pokhara — suspended since the nationwide lockdown on March 24 for COVID-19 prevention and control — have resumed after a hiatus of seven months.
According to Ram Gurung of Pokhara Canyoning at Machhapuchre Rural Municipality-9 in Kaski, all health safety measures were put in place to re-operate the adventurous sport in Pokhara.
This, he said, has operated to revive tourism in Pokhara that is emerging as an adventurous sports hub.
Gurung said that there was no alternative to breathing a new life into the adventurous tourism that has been flagging since the COVID-19 crisis.
“We should not always live under fear and bring everything into standstill,” Gurung said adding that we, instead, need to observe all precautions and move ahead.
Canyoning came into operation in Pokhara in 2014.
The 75-metre and 45-metre waterfall at Lwang Ghale, some 22 kilometers away from Pokhara, have been ideal places for canyoning.
