Dr KC’s health deteriorates on his 24th day of fast-unto-death

KATHMANDU: Dr Govinda KC’s health condition has deteriorated on the 24th day of his 19th fast-unto-death.

According to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), Dr KC has been on oxygen support as he has been refusing to take medicines.

Dr KC has been staging a fast-unto-death asking to government to implement all agreements sign with him in the past.

He has staged 18 such hunger strikes in the past with almost all of them ending in agreements with the incumbent and the previous governments.

The government has, meanwhile, urged him to end his strike.

Likewise, a meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Tuesday urged Dr KC to end the strike.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress (NC), country’s main opposition party, has expressed solidarity with Dr KC.

NC has supported Dr KC’s demands issuing a statement last week.

The Nepali Congress has said Dr KC’s demands were legitimate and that his demands need to be addressed.

Dr KC is at the TUTH after he was transferred there on September 22 following condemnation of admitting him to the National Trauma Center on September 21.

He was earlier staging his 19th fast-unto-death in Jumla, and was brought to Kathmandu on September 22.
