Govt joins campaign to make child-friendly Nepal: Minister Gurung

KATHMANDU: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Parbat Gurung on Monday said that the government has joined a campaign to get a child friendly Nepal.

The government was at work to bring a 10-year strategic plan to build a child-friendly Nepal, said the minister at a virtual meeting organized here by the Children as Zone of Peace Campaign.

He said that there has been cooperation with inter ministries along with Ministries of Home, Federal Affairs and General Administration, Health and Education to make local level child-friendly. He also requested all sides to provide suggestions in relation to the plan.

“The government is at work to implement the concept of the state becoming the guardian of orphan children. For that, cooperation with inter ministries has been stressed,” he said.

Stating that the government has focused on monitoring such organizations that have involved in illegal activities in the name of children, he said the government is committed to becoming more cooperative with the organizations working for the welfare of children.
