UK to create skill-based jobs for 90,000 Nepali youths



KATHMANDU: The British government has introduced skills for employment program to create over 90,000 jobs for Nepali people.

The Department for International Development (DFID), Nepal, in a program in the capital on Monday, said  over 90,000 Nepali youths would be provided jobs under this program in the coming four years, said Deputy Team Leader of the program Prasanna KC.

This program would first be launched in Dhanusha district of Province 2 and then in Butwal and Bhairahawa of Province 5.

KC further said that this program has been launched to stop the exodus of Nepali youths seeking jobs abroad.

People from poor families will be provided jobs-based training on various sectors including agriculture, tourism, information technology, and infrastructure under the program.

DFID will bear 50 percent of the total cost incurred during the operation of the program while the rest will be borne by the institutes involved in the program. DFID, Nepal will carry out this program in collaboration with Nepal government, private sector and other social organizations.
