India assures of facilitating in bringing fertilizer from B’desh

KATHMANDU: India has assured to facilitate the process of bringing urea fertilizer from Bangladesh to Nepal.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra gave the assurance to Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development Ghanashyam Bhusal during a meeting held between the two on Monday.

Ministry sources said that Ambassador Kwatra gave the assurances of supporting Nepal to bring 50,000 tons of urea fertilizer from Bangladesh.

Both discussed areas of mutual interest for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied activities, according to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

It may be noted that Prime Minister KP Oli last week urged his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina to provide 50,000 tons of urea fertilizer on a refundable basis.

PM Oli made the request during his telephone conversation with Hasina.

The Bangladeshi Prime Minister, in response, said she would provide the fertilizer to Nepal for this crop season.
