Government deploying police to intimidate citizens: Gagan Thapa

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Thapa has alleged the government for deployed police to intimidate those who disagree with the government activities.

“In a democratic country, one should not abuse anyone just because they have their own views,” Thapa said. He added that a series of attacks on the public is not only accidental, but planned.

Leader Thapa also said the incident against Bablu Gupta at Babarmahal has confirmed how insensitive and incompetent the police administration is.

Bablu Gupta was surrounded and brutally beaten by police on the same day when police personnel thrashed Manish Shrestha of Anamnagar. Police had also attacked a journalist who was reporting in the field in the Constitution Day in New Baneshwor.

Basanta Poudel, who was giving an interview with a mask while maintaining social distance, was beaten by a team led by a police inspector. Police have not paid attention to investigate the incident.
