Price of goats likely to be stable in Dashain

KATHMANDU: The government is set to sell as many as 3,000 goats and Chyangras (Himalayan goats) for Dashain this year.

The Food Management and Trading Company Ltd formed by the government to manage the food supply will buy 1,400 Chyangras and 1,600 goats to sell it to the public during Dashain.

Sharmila Neupane Subedi, spokesperson of the company, said that the company has a target to sell around Rs 3,000 livestock this year — similar quantity to last year.

The company has allocated Rs. 59.986 million for the same.

This year too, the price of goats and chyangras is estimated to be the same as last year.

However, the price will be decided on the basis of purchase cost, transportation and administrative expenses, said Subedi.

The company has brought goats and Chyangras from Hetauda and Tulsipur last year and is preparing to bring it from other places this year. However, Chyangras generally will come from Mustang.
