Septuagenarian succumbs to COVID-19 at Lumbini Provincial Hospital

BUTWAL: A septuagenarian has died from coronavirus in the course of treatment at Lumbini Provincial Hospital on Thursday morning.

A 77-year-old woman of Sainamaina-11, Saljhandi who was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday after she complained of respiratory problems succumbed to the virus this morning.

She tested positive for coronavirus during PCR test conducted on Wednesday.

The elderly had been kept in the isolation of the hospital after the COVID Special Hospital lacked both beds and ventilators.

According to Dr Bishnu Gautam, the spokesperson for Lumbini Provincial Hospital, the patient breathed her last at 4 am today.

She had been suffering from dry cough, fever and respiratory complications since the last three days.

With this, the number of deaths from the virus has reached 11 in Rupandehi.
