1,069 diagnosed coronavirus positive in last 24 hours

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population on Tuesday said that 1,069 new cases were added to the coronavirus tally in the last 24 hours including 481 in the Kathmandu Valley.

With this, the total number of cases has reached 40,529 in the country.

Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam stated that 705,560 PCR tests were carried out so far including 12,088 in the past 24 hours.

According to Dr. Gautam, one person from Udayapur, two from Okhaldhunga, two from Khotang, 14 from Jhapa, one from Panchthar, 12 from Morang and 56 from Sunsari in Province 1 have been confirmed to be infected.

Similarly, one person from Dhanusha, two from Parsa, 11 from Bara, two from Mahottari, five from Rautahat, one from Saptari and 19 from Sarlahi in Province 2 have tested positive.

According to Dr. Gautam, 393 are from Kathmandu, eight from Kavre, 45 from Chitwan, 11 from Dolakha, 11 from Dhading, 11 from Nuwakot, 30 from Bhaktapur, six from Makwanpur, six from Rasuwa, two from Ramechhap, 58 from Lalitpur, one from Sindhupalchowk and six from Sindhuli in Bagmati Province have been diagnosed coronavirus positive.

Similarly, four people from Kaski, eight people from Gorkha, five people from Tanahun, 15 people from Nawalparasi East, one person from Parbat and 32 people from Lamjung in Gandaki Province have been confirmed coronavirus positive.

Coronavirus has been confirmed in nine people from Arghakhanchi, seven people from Kapilvastu, 13 people from Gulmi, 13 people from Dang, four people from Nawalparasi, one person from Palpa, one person from Pyuthan, seven people from Bardiya, 33 people from Banke, one person from Rukum East and 91 people from Rupandehi in Province 5.

Similarly, two from Jumla, two from Dailekh, one from Salyan and one from Surkhet in Karnali Province have been found positive.

A total of 13 people from Achham, four from Kanchanpur, 20 from Kailali, two from Dadeldhura, 24 from Doti, 40 from Bajhang and 12 from Baitadi have been diagnosed positive.

He added that 768 people got discharged across the country in the past 24 hours, making the total number of discharged people 22,178.

There are 10,832 people are in the institutional isolation facilities while 7,280 individuals are in home isolation.

Furthermore, Gautam shared that 127 people are receiving treatment in ICU across the country while 17 persons are on ventilator support.

Till date, 12 districts have more than 500 active cases. The districts with over 500 active cases are Morang, Sunsari, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusha, Chitwan, Lalitpur, Kathmandu and Rupandehi.

Meanwhile, 11 more people lost their lives from coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll from the virus reached 239 in Nepal.
