KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has urged folks not to opt for influence-peddling to get their PCR test done in the wake of coronavirus infection.
Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that the PCR test would be done to those individuals on the basis of risk and possibility of infection so that others are not required to go for using their access to people in government or authority to get access to PCR test.
“It is our duty for appropriate use of the available means and resources. Nepal does not make equipment and reagent for the test of COVID-19 so all should keep in mind that this keeps our huge money flowing abroad,” Dr. Gautam said while calling for PCR testing only in the time of needs.
He also said that only the suspected and people at risk should go for the testing of the PCR adding that the crisis of the materials is likely due to increased demand globally.
The government is testing the suspected ones, people in contact tracing and the people from a certain community for free for sample test.
