COVID-19: Cases rise to 6,000 in Province 5



BUTWAL: The total number of coronavirus cases in Province 5 has reached 6,101 as of today.

Among them, 1,297 are active cases, the Ministry of Social Development said.

The province had reported 72 new cases of coronavirus on Friday.

While the highest were from Rupanedhi (52), followed by 15 in Banke, Rolpa reported three, and Kapilvastu and Nawalparasi west one each, according to information officer at the Ministry Dr Pushpa Raj Poudel.

According to Dr Poudel, as many as 4,703 infected have recovered from the virus so far, while 27 succumbed to it.

104 people are undergoing treatment at the Corona Special Hospital with 16 in ICU and two with help of ventilator support.

Another 20 are admitted at the Butwal Corona hospital, 17 in Bhim hospital Bhairahawa, 31 in Sushil Koirala hospital, Banke and 36 in Beljhundi Dang hospital.

As of Friday, 1,476 were in quarantine. So far, 97,591 PCR tests have been carried out.
